Tom Matlock M.D. is a semi-retired physician living in Arizona, which has been his home since 1931 (minus a few years in school elsewhere, and in private practice four years in Montana). He is a graduate of the University of Arizona, and of Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago.

After a brief stint in Montana, he and his family returned to Arizona, where he has been in private practice for 36 years (full time for 30, part-time for the remainder).

Dr. Matlock has always been in rural primary care. In the early years, this included surgery and obstetrics, both given up gladly later. (Plenty of physicians out there were doing both very well, freeing Dr M to spend more time in office based practice.)

His publishing experience has included a newspaper column for several years, as well as a newsletter for his patients. He has enjoyed speaking to civic groups on heath care topics, including managed care and cost control.
