Endangered species (not!) has defenders and detractors

Trial lawyer cum vice-presidential candidate John Edwards has drawn plenty of attention from both ends of the political spectrum.

The most recent effort coming to our attention was from the word processor of a long time Arizona attorney who suggests that the world is a much better place due to the activities of Edwards and his colleagues. Here's the link to his article in the AZ Daily Star.

For a slightly opposing view, here's what Ann Coulter, that noted gentlewoman with some right-leaning tendencies, had to say.

Our opinion? Both of them have valid points and neither of them gets anywhere close to solving our tort problems. Coulter is, of course, the biggest lightning rod in the camp of conservative female warriors. Some people don't seem to like her. Others love her. This is called polarization.

In February 2004, I wrote a column about malpractice and efforts to resolve it's attendant difficulties. It'll take you a few minutes to read what I believe is a middle of the road approach.
