Access to good quality medical care is deemed by politicians of all stripes (except possibly Libertarian) to be an American right, like freedom of speech.

Before you read much further, let's get some perspective.
1. Number of US soldiers killed in Iraq = 1000 plus.
2. Number of US citizens who die as a result of behavioral aberrations = 2.4 million annually.
3. Number of US citizens who die or get very ill due to lack of medical care = ? Could be as few as 1000 per year or ten or a hundred times that many.

Much is being written and said about malpractice costs (insurance and others) driving doctors out of practice. In Arizona last week, a large group of physicians gathered to express their concerns. We have a report from two who attended the meeting.
